Let good vibes brighten bad times
In the current social climate with a seemingly constant stream of negative news, it can be easy to let it affect us. When we’re already stressed about our class assignments, jobs and personal lives, tragic stories do not incite feelings of hope.
We have to keep in mind, however, that no storm lasts forever. Take a break. Breathe in and breathe out, and just remember that for all of the negative images surrounding us, there are stories of hope and prosperity, and sometimes we have to create our own.
We’ve been told our whole lives that rainbows only appear after storms, yet we are still consumed by negativity. How do we beat it? We have to pick our battles. We cannot become invested in every matter that happens in the world. Yes, they are important, but if we spend our energy in every little battle, we will not have enough to win the war. The point is, we still have a lot of life to live, so we should enjoy it.
We need to surround ourselves with people who make us happy, especially when we’re feeling down. It’s basic self-care.
Get involved in campus activities and events. Be a force for good.
Most of all, enjoy yourself.
Dedicate some time each week to self-care. That could include anything from having your favorite treat to — whatever makes you feel better.
We have made it through difficult times before, and we’ll make it through them again. Have hope that tomorrow will be a brighter day. We just have to keep our heads up and remember why we’re here.
